Wells Fargo international wire transfer fee

These are the fees Wells Fargo states on its own web page; we read the page on Oct 12, 2026. The fee is only one part of what a wire costs: the exchange-rate margin and fees taken by other banks come on top.

What Wells Fargo charges for an outgoing international wire

Wells Fargo: stated fees for outgoing international wires
ServiceFee
Digital (online) international wireUp to $30, depending on account type
Branch international wire$40
Digital wire sent in a foreign currency, consumer accountsNo fee

Wells Fargo says the exchange rate for wires sent in foreign currency is set by Wells Fargo and includes a markup, and that additional markups apply outside regular market hours and at weekends.

The page says other banks, including non-U.S. Wells Fargo branches, may charge additional fees, and that fees may be waived for some accounts.

What Wells Fargo charges for an incoming wire

Receiving a wire, analyzed business accounts$15

The page does not give separate incoming fees for domestic and international wires. For incoming wires in a foreign currency it says the funds are converted to U.S. dollars at Wells Fargo's exchange rate, which includes a markup; it states no amount for the markup.

What the wire fee does not include

The fee above is only what the sending bank charges. The bank may also apply a margin to the exchange rate, and the receiving bank or an intermediary bank can deduct its own fees. The margin and these other charges are often not shown on the fee page.

Banks or transfer specialists: what the World Bank survey found

For US dollars, the median total cost was 4.31% at money transfer operators and 4.82% at banks, so operators were 0.51 percentage points cheaper. For an amount equal to $200 those medians are about $8.62 and $9.64.

Only 18 bank services were recorded, so the bank median rests on few observations.

The gap differs by sending currency, so it is not the same for every country.
